What MatriPath is
MatriPath is an independent platform built for South African Grade 11 and 12 learners preparing for matric and for what comes after. It brings together past papers, video lessons, a tutor and mentor marketplace, university guidance, and an AI study assistant — all in one place, built specifically around the South African curriculum and the real decisions learners face on the way to university.
Our story
MatriPath was created by Anovuyo Notsonono, a PhD candidate at the University of the Witwatersrand and an AI/ML Pipeline Developer at Solapha Health, a 2026 Harvard HSIL Hackathon joint winner in Johannesburg, and an experienced tutor with a passion for education and helping young people reach their full potential.
Through years of tutoring high school learners, Anovuyo recognised a gap between high school and university — not only academically, but also in access to guidance, mentorship, and real insight into university life. MatriPath was created to help bridge that gap. The platform brings together academic support, tutors, mentors, learning resources, and university guidance to help learners prepare for matric and confidently navigate what comes next.
How we think about this
A few things that shape how MatriPath is actually built, not just described:
MatriPath AI is a guide, not a shortcut.
It won't do a learner's homework or assignments for them — it breaks concepts down, works through similar examples, and quizzes them, because the thinking has to stay theirs.
We link to real sources, not invented ones.
Past papers link directly to their original publisher. University information links to each university's own official pages. If we don't have something verified, we say so rather than filling the gap with a guess.
We're independent.
MatriPath isn't owned, operated, or endorsed by any university — it's built to help learners navigate toward all of them.
Our partnership with DYP PLUS Institute
MatriPath works closely with DYP PLUS Institute, an established tutoring organisation supporting Grade 10 to 12 learners with a team of tutors who are both university students and working professionals across a range of fields. DYP brings real, proven tutoring experience onto the platform, and their tutors and packages are available to MatriPath learners directly.
