Terms of Service

MatriPath is an independent educational platform for South African Grade 11 and 12 learners, offering past papers, video lessons, a tutor and mentor marketplace, a university guide, and MatriPath AI, a study assistant. MatriPath is not officially owned, operated, endorsed, or sponsored by any university, including the University of the Witwatersrand. By creating an account or using MatriPath, you agree to these terms.

MatriPath is built for Grade 11 and 12 learners, and for university students who register as tutors or mentors. If you're under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you should have a parent or guardian's awareness before using MatriPath, consistent with applicable law. You're responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity that happens under your account. Let us know if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

MatriPath lets learners browse tutor and mentor profiles and send booking requests. Tutors and mentors are independent individuals, not MatriPath employees or contractors — MatriPath doesn't supervise, employ, or guarantee the work of any tutor or mentor. Accepting a booking request creates an arrangement directly between the learner and the tutor or mentor; MatriPath doesn't currently process payments through the platform, and any payment is arranged directly between the parties. We encourage both learners and tutors/mentors to communicate clearly about expectations, timing, and any payment before a session takes place.

Tutors and mentors are responsible for the accuracy of their own profile information. MatriPath doesn't independently verify university enrollment, qualifications, or identity beyond what's provided at registration.

MatriPath AI is a study guide, not a substitute for a teacher or for your own understanding. It's designed to explain concepts, work through examples similar to what you're asking about, and generate quizzes and notes — it's built to decline directly completing homework, assignments, or exam questions for you, and to redirect toward explanation instead. Like any AI system, it can make mistakes, including in calculations — always check important answers against your textbook, teacher, or other reliable sources, particularly anything that affects marks, deadlines, or official requirements.

You agree not to:

• Provide false information when registering, including misrepresenting your role, university, or qualifications.
• Use MatriPath to harass, threaten, or harm another user.
• Attempt to access another user's account, or bypass MatriPath's security or rate limits.
• Scrape, copy, or redistribute MatriPath's content at scale without our permission.
• Use MatriPath AI to generate content that violates these terms or applicable law.

Past papers link out to their original public source (such as the Department of Basic Education) rather than being hosted or redistributed by MatriPath. University guide content is compiled independently by MatriPath and isn't officially provided or verified by the universities it describes — always confirm anything important (deadlines, requirements, funding amounts) against the university's own official pages, which we link to directly where possible.

You retain ownership of content you submit (such as a tutor or mentor profile bio), and grant MatriPath the right to display it on the platform for its intended purpose.

MatriPath is provided "as is." We work to keep information accurate and the platform available, but we don't guarantee that content is error-free, that the platform will be uninterrupted, or that any particular exam outcome, university admission, or tutoring result will follow from using MatriPath.

To the extent permitted by law, MatriPath isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including from interactions with tutors, mentors, or MatriPath AI. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be excluded under South African law.

You can stop using MatriPath and request account deletion at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, including for providing false information or misusing the platform.

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa.

If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of MatriPath after a change means you accept the updated terms.
